The auto insurance we offer at Dulcinea Insurance is designed so that you understand what you are purchasing before you sign. We serve drivers in Florida and Texas: we review the coverage you need based on your car and your state, explain each protection without jargon, and prepare a free quote with multiple companies.
Here, we first explain the basics—what each auto insurance covers and what information you need to request your quote. Request your quote or call us at 786-910-9487.
These are the coverages that make up your car insurance policy. Each one protects something different, so it's a good idea to understand them before making a decision.
Florida's mandatory duo: PIP and PD. If you drive in Florida, you cannot skip these two. PIP pays a large portion of your medical expenses and those of your passengers after an accident, regardless of who was at fault, but it does not repair any cars. PD covers the other person's car or property when you are at fault. Just imagine damaging another driver's car and your insurance not responding: it would be complete chaos with constant lawsuits.
Bodily Injury Liability, what if you injure someone in an accident? That is where BI comes in: it pays for the other person's medical expenses and injury claims when you cause the crash. In Florida, the state does not require it to register your car, but many banks and dealerships do.
Collision. Repairs your own car if it is involved in a crash, whether against another vehicle or a post, regardless of who was at fault. It is almost always required for new or financed cars. Theft, vandalism, and weather are not covered here.
In Florida, with hurricane season and sudden hailstorms, comprehensive is the coverage that responds if a tree falls on your car. It also covers theft, vandalism, flooding, and an animal crossing your path. What it does not cover are collisions.
Be careful with full coverage: many people believe it is unlimited protection, but it is not. It is not even a separate policy; it is liability, collision, and comprehensive combined, each with its own limits and deductible. It is the broadest and most expensive coverage, and if you financed your vehicle, the bank will almost certainly require it, whether you want it or not.
In addition to these, you can add uninsured motorist (UM), medical payments, roadside assistance, and rental car coverage. If you want to see all coverage types in detail, we have a guide on types of auto insurance in the United States.

Hello, I'm Luis Hernandez, CEO of Dulcinea Insurance, and in our Miami office we see it every day: people come in with a budget in hand and don't know what they're buying.
The first thing we do is sit down with you, or talk on the phone, to understand your situation: what kind of car you have, what state you live in, whether you're financing it, and what you use it for. Then we explain what each coverage includes and what's not, in simple terms, like a friend would explain. With that clear, we put together your quote, comparing several companies with the same limits and deductible, so you can compare prices. We speak your language, and we don't charge for the consultation.
Luis, which car insurance is best for me?
We get asked that all the time, and the answer is always: it depends. It depends on your car, your condition, whether you're financing it, and how much risk you can handle on your own. For a new or financed car, full coverage is almost always sufficient. For a paid-off car that's no longer worth much, sometimes the minimum coverage is enough.
Yes. We requested quotes from several companies with the same limits and deductible, so the numbers can be truly compared. And we tell you what's excluded from each one: the cheapest isn't always the best coverage.
We get this question every week. The deductible is your share of a claim: you pay it upfront, and the insurance company covers the rest. For car insurance, it's a fixed amount, like $500 or $1,000, that you choose: the higher the deductible, the lower your monthly payment. If the other driver was at fault, your insurance company can recover that amount from theirs.
The bank or dealer almost always requires liability, collision, and comprehensive insurance, with a maximum deductible, in addition to your state's minimum. This is required by the lender, not the law, and it remains in place as long as you continue making payments on the car. If you default on your insurance, they can force you to use their own, which is significantly more expensive.
The requirements are those set by your state: in Florida, $10,000 for PIP and $10,000 for PD. Beyond that, it depends on your specific situation: whether you're financing, if the car is new, or if you're using it for work. Below, we explain the requirements for Florida and Texas.
Don't worry: the form doesn't buy you any policy, it just notifies you that an agent will call you. We'll call you to confirm your information, understand your situation, and prepare a quote. And there's no obligation until you decide.
To request contact, you only need your basic information. We'll ask for the rest later, when we prepare the quote, and the more accurate your information is, the closer the price will be to the actual cost. Please have the following ready:
If your license is from another country or you don't have a previous policy, it's not always an impediment: it depends on the insurance company and the state, and we'll review it with you before preparing the quote.
There is no national minimum; each state sets its own. If you drive in Florida, the law requires $10,000 in Personal Injury Liability (PIP) and $10,000 in Property Damage (PD) to register a vehicle. Body Injury Liability is not required by state law, although many people go to the office believing it is. In Texas, on the other hand, the 30/60/25 liability requirement is $30,000 per person injured, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for damage to someone else's property.
Be aware of this: what the state requires is one thing, and what the bank or dealer requires if you financed is another. And any extra protection, like collision, comprehensive, or uninsured motorist coverage, is something you decide and pays for separately.
Imagine the chaos: in Florida, you only have the minimum coverage ($10,000 PD) and you crash into a car worth $30,000. Your insurance only pays up to $10,000, and the remaining $20,000 can be claimed directly from you, potentially leading to a lawsuit. Increasing your PD limit usually costs a little more per month, but it takes that worry away.
If you live in a high-traffic zip code, like those in Miami, or have recent traffic tickets and claims, your insurance company will increase your premium because they perceive a higher risk of accidents. It's that simple: the higher the risk, the more you pay. Car insurance policies take into account factors such as your age, the zip code where you park your car, your driving and claims history, the type of vehicle, and the coverage you choose.
When we send you the quote, you'll see three key numbers: the premium (what you pay per month), the limit (the maximum the insurance will pay for each coverage), and the deductible (your share if there's a claim). For car insurance, the deductible is a fixed amount in dollars that you choose, not a percentage of the car's value.
Therefore, when comparing, always use the same limits and the same deductible in all quotes. Otherwise, you're comparing different things.
Leave us your information and a Dulcinea Insurance agent will contact you to review your case and prepare your car insurance quote. This form only requests contact; it does not issue any policy or commit you to anything. You can also call us at 786-910-9487.
